Two new Novellas. Available to pre-order now.

I’ve been writing these two novellas for longer than I can remember, at least three years on and off, so it’s been a relief to finally get them finished.

Even more of a relief was the reaction of my editor. She recently took a look and liked them both.

I had originally considered serialising them on my Substack, but that spot is currently taken up with Murder Most Foul, so I’ve decided to publish them and make them available on Kindle Unlimited.

You can pre-order the eBooks now. The paperbacks will be available on November 1st.

If you click the book’s cover below, you’ll go straight to the sales page for each novella.

I released an early version of The Collective on Medium back in 2024. At that point, it was called All by Myself. It didn’t attract much attention, and to be honest, I wasn’t particularly happy with how it came out. I’ve rewritten it, expanding the story considerably, and I think it’s better for it.

Here’s the cover and Blurb.

The Aspirion is at the edge of explored space, orbiting an Earth-like planet, when disaster strikes.

Surviving that is only the first ordeal facing Rico and Lucy.

As they learn more about the situation they are in, it becomes impossible to simply sit and wait for rescue.

The planet is part of the Batlovian Collective, who claim to be a benign alliance of alien races.

That’s not exactly true.

The Collective are in the middle of a civil war.

And the humans must choose a side.

Another Rainy Night in Helcon City is a crime noir and actually came about from a single-word prompt on Medium. Regular readers of my blog will know about how I wrote a drabble around the word IMPLICATION, which gave me the idea for the longer version that became Another Rainy Night.

If you missed it, here’s the post from last year.

Here’s the cover and Blurb.

“Finding out the truth in Helcon City was like peeling an onion. Every layer was a different version of things. It was up to you to stop when you got to the layer you wanted. One on either side could be dangerous.” Rex Reyder.

In the grim, industrial landscape of Helcon City, where the rain hardly ever stops, there’s a lot going on under the surface.

All it needs is for someone to lift the lid.

Rex Reyder. A private eye who’s down on his luck.
Delores Kovac. A grieving widow, looking for answers.
Mike Kovac. A dead cop, with enough secrets to blow the town apart.

And then there are the people who just want it all to go away.

Throw them together, something’s got to give.

Why not give them a try? They’re both short reads, and I’d love to get your thoughts.

I’d love to get your comments, please leave them below. While you’re here, why not take a look around? There are some freebies and lots more content, about me, my writing and everything else that I do.
