You need the things that bring you joy.

Welcome back to another blog hop, with #OpenBook. Here’s this week’s prompt.

Stolen from Deanna Martinez-Bey and Writer’s Digest: What is on your joy list?

Life can be hard, so it’s important to have a few things in the locker that help you chill and get things into perspective when it all gets a bit overwhelming.

I must admit that I’d never heard of the term joy list before, so I went searching.

I found this definition online.

A joy list is a personalised, actionable record of activities, sensations, and moments that bring you happiness, designed to boost mental health by shifting focus from lack to abundance.

When I investigated further, I found there were quite a few things that I already did that would fit quite neatly onto a joy list.

Things like,

Burning incense and scented candles in the house. Particularly Sandalwood. It takes me back to a time and place in my life where I was happy and had less to worry about.

Walking barefoot in nature. This always makes me feel better.

That first coffee of the day. Enough said.

Watching a good movie (again and again).

Listening to some 1960s, 70s or 80s music.

All of those things help to pick me up when I’m having a bad day.
