Fall, or as we say in England, Autumn.

Welcome back to another blog hop, with #OpenBook. Here’s this week’s prompt.

Don’t forget to click the link to see what everyone else has to say on this week’s subject. It’s at the end of my post.

What do you look forward to as Fall comes up?

Coming just above spring, autumn (fall) is my favourite time of the year.

Especially here in Devon, where you very often experience a prolonged spell of beautiful weather in September and October. It’s not too cold, it’s dry, and the sunlight has a particular golden hue.

There are so many things about the season that I love,

The leaves changing colour,

Lighting scented candles in the darkening evenings,

The quieter streets after the tourist season.

These are just a few.

Then there are,

Soups and stews to cook and enjoy,

The looming prospect of Christmas festivities,

Cosy Evenings,

Getting a brand new diary and a calendar for my office wall,

Driving across Dartmoor, amid a riot of vivid colour.

Not forgetting

What used to be called NaNoWriMo,

Fireworks,

Fruit Crumble and Custard,

The smell of garden bonfires,

Standing on the cliffs, watching the angry white-topped waves beneath scudding clouds,

Porridge for breakfast, with honey and dried berries

Planning festive gifts for family.

There’s a lot to be said for this time of year.

I’ll go with the fireworks, comfort food and standing on Isle of Wight cliffs watching the waves (there are none in Suffolk). The rest I’d happily pass over.

I love dark, frosty mornings. Never mind NaNo, I’ll be challenging myself in November.
