What are your favourite writing-related blogs?
Despite having had a presence on the web since 2011, I still consider myself to be a relative newbie at this blogging lark. I have to admit that I’ve been busy doing my own thing and until recently, I never really understood the concept of blogging properly. I never wanted to be more than a writer, never felt the need to join in much; especially with people who seemed to all know each other and far more about writing than I did. I just posted the content that interested me, told the world that it was there and hoped that it reached people who enjoyed reading it.
Sure, I read other blogs, but I rarely commented on them. I used to look at the comments and struggle to find anything original or constructive to say. Simply replying good post seemed pointless and didn’t add to the conversation. The few times that I did say anything, I seemed to say the wrong thing and found myself shot down, which made me feel even less enthusiastic about taking part.
This year, I’m trying to change all that, I’m trying to be a bit more pro-active, it’s difficult when you’re introverted but (at least in theory), I’m determined to give it a go.
Some of the blogs I look at regularly; in no particular order are these.
A great site, full of an amazing range of topics.
A go-to resource for self-publishing and marketing advice.
Like the Smorgasbord, a great mixture of useful stuff.
The musings of a fellow Sci-Fi author.
Always fascinating content.
It goes without saying that this list is not complete. It will never be, largely because I’m finding new sources of inspiration all the time.
I’ve recently got into the habit of reblogging posts that I find interesting, now that I’m starting to understand how it all works.
