Before Ribbonworld. The Story begins.
Where is Layla Balcom?
The most famous woman in the Galaxy, heiress to the Balcom empire, has vanished.
Has she simply exchanged her celebrity life for peace and quiet or has the unthinkable happened?
Now, here’s more about my series and other novels.
Dave Travise Series
Officially, Finn Douglas died on active duty. The truth is more complicated than that.
Now called Dave Travise (it’s a long story), Finn is just trying to stay alive and one step ahead of trouble. To make matters worse, he’s met Myra. She’s his new boss’s sister and the real Dave Travises ex. He’s going to need all the luck in the Galaxy to get out of this in one piece.
Andorra Pett.
Andorra Pett shouldn’t have been in space. It was all Trevor’s fault.
When Andorra discovers Trevor is cheating, she needs to get away. A space station orbiting Saturn ought to be far enough. She thought it would be a new start, then the bodies started turning up. Adventure and peril are constant companions on her journey through the Solar System.
The Balcom Series
“Review a hotel for me,’ she said. ‘It’ll be easy,’ she said.
I haven’t even got started and there’s a body in the bathroom.”
For Miles Goram, things go from bad to worse, he’s in danger, there’s corruption in Balcom Industrial and a missing heiress. Plus the continual struggle to stay alive on an inhospitable planet.
Steampunk
In Norlandia, a world of Steam and Clockwork, evil forces are at play.
Norlandia is a land in the midst of change, the old order is collapsing yet those in power seek to hold on. Join Horis Strongman in The Rocks of Aserol and A New Life in Ventis, as he battles to survive the wrath of those in power.
Meet the Orphan Detectives in The Sensaurum and the Lexis.
They’re a secret group of agents, dedicated to keeping the realm safe

If you want me, I’ll be where the knowledge lives.
About me.
I’m Richard Dee and I’m from Brixham in Devon.
I write all kinds of speculative fiction, from Science Fiction and Steampunk to sci-fi crime and psychological thrillers.
Forty years at sea gave me the ideas, I just changed the names and set them in the future, or an alternative now.
All my work is fuelled by black coffee and homemade digestive biscuits.
I’d love to hear from you,
