Memories

I was in a charity shop last week (you’d probably call it a thrift store in the U.S.) and spotted this piece of Vinyl history,

RainbowRainbowRising

I remember buying it when it first came out and playing it until it got on everyone’s nerves except mine. I went to see them at the Hammersmith Odeon in the long hot summer of ’76 and they were incredible. That wasn’t the thing that stopped me in my tracks though (Get it?)

It was the price, £3.99 for a recording in a format that a lot of people wouldn’t be able to use.

Racking my brains I’m sure that when I bought it, brand new, it was a lot less than £3.99. I guess that’s progress.

After the reminder, I’ve played it again and it still sounds amazing. Just think; there’s a whole new generation to annoy!
