The Indie Showcase presents, Marjorie Mallon

Please welcome this week’s guest to the Showcase.

Thank you so much to Richard for inviting me to talk about my new, unexpected book baby: Mr. Sagittarius, poetry and prose. This book baby’s arrival took me by surprise! I’d been working through the first beta edits from the second in my YA Fantasy series The Curse of Time—Golden Healer and needed a break, so I thought why not write a book of poetry and short stories to include my photography?

This sweet little gem of a book is inspired by my mindful nature walks in Cambridge Botanical gardens. I have been writing a series of articles about the magic of trees, spirit animals: the robin, the dragonfly and mindfulness (I recently completed a course on mindfulness at the school that I work at.)

Combined with these interests, I drew upon an interest and inclination towards photography—it is in the genes! My grandfather and uncle ran a photography company called A G Ingram in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Mr. Sagittarius tells the story of three siblings: twin brothers Harold and William and their sister Annette. It is a magical framed story that opens and closes the compilation with various poetry and short stories intertwining throughout, with an emphasis on seasons of the year, flowers, trees and magical spirit creatures. The conclusion to the story involves the reaction of two young siblings who discover a mysterious box in the greenhouses in the botanical gardens. They witness an extraordinary sight…

Magic!

Mr. Sagittarius is an uplifting collection of poetry, prose and photography. I hope you will enjoy it. It is available in Amazon Kindle, free on Kindle unlimited and also in full-colour paperback: Buying Link: http://mybook.to/MrSagittarius

I promise to return to my YA fantasy, The Curse of Time Book 2 Golden Healer. It is waiting in the shadows for me to complete. The Curse of Time is a dark fantasy, with crystal magic elementals.

If you have not read the first book: The Curse of Time Book 1 Bloodstone, now is the time to do so… Buying Link: http://mybook.to/TheCurseofTime

Author Bio

I am an author who has been blogging for many moons at my lovely blog home Kyrosmagica: https://mjmallon.com. My interests include writing, photography, poetry, and alternative therapies. I write YA Fantasy/Paranormal novels, ghost/horror short stories and middle-grade fiction as well as micropoetry – haiku and tanka. I love to read and have written over 100 reviews: https://mjmallon.com/2015/09/28/a-m-of-my-book-reviews/

My alter ego is MJ – Mary Jane from Spiderman. I love superheroes! I was born on the 17th of November in Lion City: Singapore, (a passionate Scorpio, with the Chinese Zodiac sign a lucky rabbit. I grew up in a mountainous court in the Peak District in Hong Kong.

As a teenager, I travelled to many far-flung destinations. It’s rumoured that I now live in the Venice of Cambridge, with my six-foot hunk of a Rock God husband. My two enchanted daughters often return to visit me with a cheery smile.

When I’m not writing, I eat exotic delicacies while belly dancing, or surf to the far reaches of the moon. To chill out, I practise Tai Chi. If the mood takes me I snorkel with mermaids or sign up for idyllic holidays with the Chinese Unicorn, whose magnificent voice sings like a thousand wind chimes.
